Press Release

City of Houston, Collaborative Promotes Preparedness with Inaugural May Day Houston Event

April 30, 2013 -- The City of Houston invites residents to take a day to prepare during the first ever "May Day Houston" event.  With hurricane season only a month away, the Houston Community Preparedness Collaborative (HCPC), in partnership with the City of Houston, is sponsoring a variety of events focused on helping Houstonians prepare.

May Day Houston

May Day Houston brings together community organizations, businesses, emergency responders, and Houston residents to help promote emergency preparedness. Take some time on Wednesday to help make sure you and your family have the information you need to be prepared for disasters.  This may include putting together an emergency kit, writing out your family's emergency plan, or finding out ways you can stay informed when disaster strikes.   Only when everyone knows their role, will Houston be fully prepared for emergencies.

Houston residents can make a "Pledge to Prepare", by promising to do at least one thing aimed at helping ensure they are prepared.  Visit maydayhouston.org for ideas on what families, schools, and organizations can do to be a part of this exciting event!
