MESSAGE FROM MAYOR SYLVESTER TURNER
On July 12, I announced the City’s support of the Original Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Parade in collaboration with the Black Heritage Society in the spirit of Dr. King’s timeless message of unity and hope. On behalf of the City of Houston in partnership with the Black Heritage Society, we extend an invitation for you to join us in celebrating the 41st anniversary of this historical parade.
As Mayor of the fourth largest city in our nation, it is my sincere hope that on Monday, January 21, 2019 at 10:00 AM in the heart of downtown Houston your group will join us in making this the largest parade, thus far. I am hopeful that Houston, the nation’s most diverse city will unite to support the Black Heritage Society’s MLK, Jr. Day Parade as we pay homage to Dr. King’s dream and legacy. Let’s come together as a city to celebrate the life of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
