  • Advise the Mayor on immigration issues.
  • Provide information to the public about immigrant and immigration policies.
  • Act as a liaison between immigrant communities and city government.
  • Publish user friendly and multi-lingual literature to assist immigrants.
• Citizenship Program
  • Provide assistance in finding appropriate venues for citizenship ceremonies.
  • Participate in citizenship ceremonies.
  • Provide assistance with information/curriculum development for citizenship classes.
  • Encourage new citizens to participate in civic duties.
  • Provide citizens with information on how to register to vote.
• Policy Issues
  • Assist immigrant community-based organizations participation in Houston's political, economic, social and cultural life
  • Promote a productive, cooperative and prosperous environment for all Houstonians.
