Houston artist, Professor Carroll Harris Simms was instrumental in the development of a unique sculpture and ceramics program in the Fine Arts Department at Texas Southern University.

Guitar Solo was donated to the City of Houston by Mr. and Mrs. S.M. McAshan, Jr. The artwork was rededicated during the Municpal Art Commission's 40th Anniversary ceremony.

Guitar Solo and KGA Art Bench are located in the lobby of the Bob Lanier Public Works Building, downtown at 611 Walker @ Smith.
