Floyd Newsum received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Memphis College of Art in 1973. In 1975 Newsum received his Masters in Fine Arts from the Tyler School of Art at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He has been a professor of art at The University of Houston-Downtown for the last 30 years.
Newsum is primarily a painter but he also makes sculptures and prints. He has worked on several public art projects. His work can be found in many public and private collections around the country, including the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Museum of Fine Arts Houston and the Art Museum of South Texas in Corpus Christi, Xavier University, Texas Southern University, and University of Houston-Downtown. |
