Looking for extracurricular activities as an antidote to a sedentary lifestyle? Want to test your athletic ability to see if you still have the moves? The Houston Parks and Recreation Department’s Adult Sports division has developed an array of recreational sports opportunities that let grown-ups play like kids-at-heart.
Each year, the office organizes more than 1,200 adult teams. Men’s, women’s and coed leagues are played during the winter, spring, summer and fall seasons, Monday through Friday, for a five-week doubleheader or 10-week single games at locations throughout the city. Additionally, sports and fitness programs are offered for mature adults, such as water fitness, disc golf, croquet, pickle ball & table tennis.
Sports officials are needed to work evening hours officiating sports leagues in such sports as softball, flag football, basketball, volleyball, and kickball. ASA and/or TAAF certification is required; certification training is available. Average pay is $15 - $22.50 per game. For information, call 832.395.7130 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
