The bronze Lunar Footprint is a depiction of American Astronaut Neil Armstrong’s famous booted footprint left at the Moon’s Tranquillity Base as he left the lunar lander on July 20, 1969. Around it are the words he intended to say: “One small step for a man – One giant leap for mankind.” In the excitement of the moment, he left out the word “a”. The artwork was set in place in 1979 as part of the original construction of Tranquillity Park.
