The carved stone bench located with a view of McGovern Lake is the work of Jesus Bautista Moroles. It consists of rough-cut granite with a smooth notch. It has been a part of the Hermann Park landscape since 1999.
Jesus Bautista Moroles has an international reputation for abstract, chiseled granite sculptures and contrasting polished surfaces with rough-cut ones. His background includes study in Italy. He was born in Corpus Christi in 1950 and maintains a studio in Rockport. He was the recipient of the prestigious Awards in the Visual Arts fellowship in 1982.
