COMMUNICATION DIVISION

Communication Division GraphicThe Communications Division collects and distributes internal and external communications materials, whatever the medium.  They coordinate the Parks Department's 311 program and the AskParks citizen's e-mail system, which answers community questions that may fall outside the work-orders generated through 311.  The department's website is developed and implemented through the Communications Division, and they handle all media relations, public relations, press releases, marketing, PowerPoint presentations, speech writing, citizen correspondence, trade booth development, and preparation of material for park's events and programs.

Under the direction of Estella Espinosa, the Communications Division is the primary point of contact for those seeking information concerning the Houston Parks and Recreation Department. The Communications Division works closely with the public and media to answer questions and deliver information in a timely manner.

Major initiatives include:

  • Disseminating Press Releases
  • Holding Press Conferences
  • Interviewing with Media Representatives
  • Responding to Citizens' Inquiries
