Director Joe Turner hosted an appreciation meeting at the Parks and Recreation headquarters to honor this group for their hard work and dedication. This is the first time the Department has hired this many interns who worked over the summer as park managers, park asset inventory specialists and tree inventory specialists. Eric Spurgeon, the first on board, was hired full-time as an Inspector by mid-June. Other interns have expressed their interest in continuing with the Department. Mr. Turner thanked interns for selecting the Parks Department, presented them each with a certificate and memento, and offered valuable professional advice.
