If you dream of riding bowls, grinding rails, or cutting and sweeping through the largest cradle in the world, you can fulfill your desire right here in Houston at the Lee and Joe Jamail Skatepark. Designed by the premiere skatepark firm Grindline, this state-of-the-art, public 30,000 square-foot in-ground facility is the first world-class, in-ground skatepark in our region.

The new facility puts Houston on the forefront of American venues for this fast-growing, dynamic sport. The park has areas for skaters of all levels, from the seasoned pro to the beginner. Skaters can work on their kick flip, ollie, fakie big spin...or simply learn to stay balanced!

Beginning Skateboarding Classes
Register for FREE Basic Skateboarding Classes at the Lee & Joe Jamail Skatepark. Youth ages 6 – 17 will learn the fundamentals of the sport, safety, etiquette, and fitness. Helmet and water required; safety pads recommended. Registration is first come, first served; students can sign up for one session per summer.

Classes meet Monday through Thursday, ages 6 – 12 9:00 – 9:50 a.m.; ages 13 – 17 8:15 – 10:50 a.m.

Guest Rules and Regulations
These rules and requirements are to help assure that skateboarders and in-line skaters of all ability levels have a safe and positive experience.

WARNING
TEXAS LAW (CHAPTER 75, CIVIL PRACTICE AND REMEDIES CODE) LIMITS THE LIABILITY OF A GOVERNMENTAL UNIT FOR DAMAGES ARISING DIRECTLY FROM HOCKEY IN-LINE HOCKEY, SKATING, IN-LINE SKATING, ROLLER-SKATING, SKATEBOARDING, ROLLER-BLADING OR SOAP BOX DERBY USE ON PREMISES THAT THE GOVERNMENTAL UNIT OWNS, OPERATES, OR MAINTAINS FOR THAT PURPOSE.

  1. Know your abilities and use the facility at your own risk. Exercise common sense and general courtesy to others. Spectators should watch from the spectator area or outside the fence for safety.

  2. All skaters are required to wear helmets. It is strongly recommended that skaters wear protective equipment including kneepads, elbow pads and wrist guards.

  3. Bicycles, BMX, scooters, and razors are prohibited.

  4. Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by a parent or authorized adult.

  5. Indecent or abusive language or activity which creates a public nuisance, is prohibited.

  6. The skatepark is closed during wet conditions.

  7. No food or refreshment is allowed on skating surface.

  8. Help keep your skatepark clean by using the trashcans.

  9. Graffiti or defacement of this facility is prohibited.

  10. Personal ramps are prohibited.

  11. Use of wax is prohibited.

  12. Use of tobacco is prohibited

  13. Alcohol and illegal substances are prohibited.

  14. Glass containers are prohibited.

  15. Solicitation of fees or donations is prohibited without prior approval of Houston Parks and Recreation Department (HPARD).

  16. All skaters and patrons must follow HPARD staff directions.
