But you can do much more! You can be a part of the NCAA Golf Championship experience by volunteering to fill positions on 13 volunteer committees. Some committees will require only a few people while others will require many more. We hope you will consider being a volunteer and fill out a volunteer registration form and let us know what committee you would like to volunteer for. Committee meetings will be held before the tournament to explain the duties of each committee.
Tournament Day
A typical tournament day will begin with players arriving for their rounds about an hour and a half before their tee times to warm up at the driving range. The players will be announced on the tee (either 1st or 10th tee). Walking scorers will be with each threesome. Standard bearers will accompany the lead groups Thursday through Saturday. The walking scorer will call in the group's scores to Golf stats scoring for live leader board updates. Two electronic leader boards (similar to the ones on the PGA Tour) will be placed on the golf course. Portable leader boards will be placed every three holes for live scoring.
Once the players have completed their round USGA officials will validate their scorecard. Scorecards will be given to Golf stats scoring office for final input and then posted to the scoreboard.
The NCAA will have several officials, media members, rules officials and other onsite staff that will require coordination and cooperation from us. We will coordinate all aspects of the tournament from the time the first team arrives until the last team leaves the course each day.
Committees and Duties
The committees that require the most volunteers are the walking scorers and standard bearers. We will make every effort to place you on the committee you requested; however, it may be necessary to reassign people to other committees based on need.
