The Capital Improvement Plan is vital to our City. It is a five-year plan for physical improvements to public facilities and infrastructure through which tax dollars for streets and traffic control, libraries, storm drainage, police, housing, fire, solid waste, public health, and parks are allocated. The CIP plan is revised annually to include new projects and to reflect change in priorities. In addition, public meetings are held every year, in each City Council District, to provide citizens an opportunity to comment on the process and recommend projects to be included in the plan.
The Adopted fiscal year (FY) 2007-2011 CIP calls for the appropriation of $4.51 billion during the five-year period for two major categories of programs, enterprise and property tax supported programs. Of the total planned appropriations, $2.25 billion is for projects in the enterprise fund programs (Airport, Convention & Entertainment, Wastewater, and Water). The remaining $2.27 billion addresses a full range of citywide capital facility and infrastructure improvements.
The Parks and Recreation Department's FY 2007-2011 CIP budget total $155 million and is funded by several funding sources including bond funds, grants, and other agencies and or private contributions. This five-year CIP program continues Phase I of the Master Plan. The current Parks Master Plan will be updated in FY2007. The following is a list of 2006 Park projects by Council District that have been completed or under construction.
