Report Playground Equipment Concerns

On Saturday, February 20, 2010, a grand ribbon-cutting opened the Boundless Playground to the children of Eastwood Park. The new playground replaced an older structure that was not handicap-accessible. Funded through a $250,000 grant from CVS Caremark All Kids Can and $183,000 from the Houston Parks and Recreation Department, the playground is a joint initiative between CVS Caremark, Boundless Playgrounds, the Houston Parks and Recreation Department, and the Houston Parks Board, Inc.

It is estimated that there are 1,000 children in the area with a disability that might keep them from enjoying free play in the park. The Boundless Playground is accessible to children with physical and sensory disabilities, giving them the chance to play with their peers in a setting that gives full range to their imaginations.

Playground Inspections

All HPARD playground equipment receives regular inspection and maintenance by the Safe Inspection Team, which makes sure that all play equipment and fall surfaces are in compliance with the safety guidelines established by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and the American Society for Testing and Materials.

To report playground equipment concerns to the Houston Parks and Recreation Department, please contact the 311 Houston Service Center by phone at 713.837.0311 or by filling out an online 311 email form.
