Steps to finding demographic data at the Census Bureau

The Census Bureau publishes Demographic, Social-Economic and Housing Characteristics by Race and Ethnic Origin.

Here are the steps to access specific data for a specific area:

  1. Go to www.census.gov

  2. Click on 'American Factfinder'

  3. Click on 'Data Sets'

  4. Click on 'Census 2000 Summary File 3'

On the same page:

  1. Click on 'Detailed Tables'

  2. Click on pull down menu on 'Geographic Type'

  3. Select  5-Digit ' zip code'

  4. Click on 'Add'

  5. Select one or more geographic areas

  6. Click on 'Add'

  7. Click on 'Next'

  8. Click on ‘Choose Tables’ and click ‘Add’

  9. Click on 'Show Result'.
