HOW TO SEARCH THE CENSUS

The Census Bureau publishes Demographic, Social-Economic and Housing Characteristics by Race and Ethnic Origin.

Here are the steps to accessing specific data for a specific area:

Go to www.census.gov

Demographics Links:
  • Click on American Factfinder
  • Click on Data Sets
  • Click on Census 2000 Summary File

On the same page:

  • Click on 'Detailed Tables'
  • Click on pull down menu on 'geographic type'
  • Select  5-Digit zip code
  • Click on 'Add'
  • Select one or more geographic areas
  • Click on 'Add'
  • Click on 'Next'
  • Click on 'Choose Tables' and click 'Add'
  • Click on 'Show result'.
