Your super neighborhood at-a-glance:LocationEldridge/West Oaks, is in far West Houston, South of Buffalo Bayou, and down into the northern part of Alief. It includes the Energy Corridor on the North. Brief HistoryEldridge/West Oaks moved from rural sprawling ranches just 30 years ago, to booming residential, energy and business growth. Eldridge/West Oaks has been lucky to take advantage of the extensive expansion of the Terry Hershey Parke Trail System, which is walking or biking distance for most area residents. Super neighborhood 17 residents are also fortunate to have the George Bush Park just to the west. The Ray Miller Park on the main artery on Eldridge is a fabulous local park within the super neighborhood boundaries. A new library sits on the border of SN17 with meeting rooms and an indoor basketball court. Civic Associations in the Area
Eldridge/West Oaks includes the western region of the Houston Independent School District that include and the northern part of the Alief Independent School District. HISD schools include Dailey ES West Briar Middle School and the Barbara Bush ES Westside High School. There are also several private schools with a long history in far West Houston. ProjectsSN17 will work closely with the other Super neighborhoods in West Houston on public forums and projects. Westside Green is a project that SN17 will join with SN18 to develop recycling locations and move towards having a farmers market and education.
