Summary of Main Street Corridor Strategic Plan:

The Strategic Plan, supported by funds from the City of Houston and Harris County, details
eight fundamental strategies for implementing the guiding principles and overall vision developed in the Master Plan.

1. Encourage the completion of public projects.
2. Adopt Main Street Corridor Design Guidelines for the public right-of-way.
3. Enhance Main Street and the light rail alignment to create an integrated corridor.
4. Link adjacent neighborhoods to the Corridor with high-quality pedestrian districts.
5. Attract high-impact joint-use development with regional parking facilities.
6. Implement long-term redevelopment projects in key areas of the Corridor.
7. Establish continuous support for the Main Street Coalition’s vision to ensure the facilitation
and coordination of public and private projects along the Corridor.
8. Funding capital improvements in the strategic plan.
