Third Ward to Main Street Connectivity Project
Steering Committee

The Transportation Committee of the Third Ward Redevelopment Council (TWRC) has been

designated as the project’s Steering Committee to offer guidance throughout the planning, design and engineering process. All seven of these people live or work in the Third Ward and are knowledgeable of the community's transportation needs. In fact, the Steering Committee has been working closely with the Planning Department for over a year to develop the scope of this project.

• Theola Petteway, Executive Director OST/Almeda TIRZ and Third Ward Community Cloth
• Dr. Carol Lewis, Director, TSU Center for Transportation
• Tanya McWashington, METRO
• C.C. Lee, Stoa International Architect
• Wendell Simpson, Development Consultant

In addition, representatives from TxDOT, the City’s Public Works and Engineering Department, Trees for Houston and other organizations will participate as advisors to the project.

Community Participation
Effective communication among stakeholders and the larger community is the cornerstone of the Third Ward connectivity and streetscape design effort. The success of the project relies on continuous stakeholder and public input on issues and decisions. The TWRC will assist in the facilitation of communication with the stakeholders throughout the project.
