The
Houston Police Department's Vehicle Compound is located
at 1300 Dart Street. The compound is open for citizens to
claim their vehicles from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday
through Friday. All vehicles stored at the compound are
there as a result of a criminal investigation. Therefore,
a release form must be obtained from the investigative
division that had the vehicle placed in the compound. Click here for a

Release Information
When a
citizen comes to the compound to claim their vehicle,
they must have an approved identification, i.e. Drivers
License, Texas Identification Card, as well as proof of
ownership and a release from the investigative division
that placed the vehicle in the compound. The release from
the concerned division can be the case supplement number
which will be checked to verify the division no longer
has a hold on the vehicle.

Auctions
The Auto
Dealers Detail, Auction Squad, holds an auction of
abandoned vehicles at the vehicle compound on the second
Thursday of each month. To be eligible for this auction,
the vehicle must be declared as an abandoned vehicle as
described in Chapter 683 of the State of Texas,
Transportation Code.
