Mounted Patrol - Adoptions

What horses are available for adoption? After our horses have honorable served their city, they are eligible for adoption. We like to retire all our horses while they are still healthy and sound, deserving a good retirement. Due to unforeseen medical issues, horses can be retired due to additional factors. While they may not be eligible to be a Mounted horse, often they still have many good years left to enjoy as a pleasure horse or pasture pet.

How do I go about adopting a Mounted horse? Should you wish to be considered for one of our horses please contact Senior Police Officer Jesus Pena at 832-394-0933. Officers will go over a requirements checklist with all applicants and information will be taken to put you on the adoption list. At the time of retirement, horse and applicant will be evaluated to see if they suit each other’s needs. Adopters will assume all responsibility and liability at the time of retirement.

Ideal retirement Adopters will be considered provided they plan to make a lifetime commitment to our horses. Turn out is a requirement with access to covered shelter. We hope that all adopters plan to make our horses a part of their family, with a loving home.
