Incident at 11215 Sagewind

April 28, 2005 -- Houston police are investigating the death of an infant found not breathing at 11215 Sagewind about 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday (Apr. 27).

The victim is identified as Joshua Jamison, six months old, of 11910 Fossil Rock Lane. There were no visible wounds to Joshua and the Harris County Medical Examiner's office is conducting an autopsy to determine his cause of death.

HPD Homicide Division Officer J.C. Bonaby III reported:

Joshua and his 22-month-old brother were at a licensed home daycare whose provider fed Joshua about 8 a.m. and placed him in a baby bed between 9 and 9:30 a.m. The daycare provider checked on Joshua from time to time and about 11:30 a.m. found Joshua lying face down in the bed. When the provider attempted to wake Joshua, he was unresponsive. The provider then called 911 and performed CPR on Joshua while talking to the 911 operator. During this time, paramedics arrived and checked the baby's vital signs and immediately transported him to Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital in critical condition.

Doctors attempted to revive the baby, but were unsuccessful. Joshua was pronounced dead about 12:45 p.m. There were no visible signs of child abuse or foul play and Joshua appeared to have been well nourished, had a clean, healthy appearance and showed no signs of neglect. The case remains under investigation pending results of the autopsy.
