August 2, 2005 -- Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 13200 East Freeway service road on Monday (August 1) about 4:45 p.m.

The deceased victim is identified as Cristina Solis, 19, of 12530 Green Bayou. A 7-year -old female passenger in the victim's vehicle was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital with minor injuries.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant N. Nguyen and Officer J. Tippy reported:

A white GMC Suburban and a green Chevy Silverado were traveling eastbound on the East Freeway when both vehicles took the Uvalde exit. The green Chevy, being driven by Cristina Solis, was behind the Suburban when she attempted to overtake the Suburban by passing on the right of that vehicle. Solis' vehicle struck the curb, which caused it to spin out of control and strike the Suburban. Her vehicle then rolled over onto the right shoulder of the service road. Cristina Solis was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Suburban, who was uninjured, was not charged with any wrongdoing.

The investigation is continuing.
