February 4, 2005 -- Houston police are investigating the shooting death of a man at 1 Goodson today (Feb. 4) about 12:40 a.m.

HPD Homicide Division Investigators P. J. Guerrero and J. Selvera reported:

The victim, Jesus Alvarez, 26, of 1 Goodson #154, came home to his apartment
complex and parked his vehicle. As Alvarez was walking through the parking
lot to his apartment, two males confronted him. The suspects, who have not
been identified, demanded money and began to check his pockets. Alvarez
struggled with the suspects and was shot one time in the upper left side.
Alvarez collapsed between two cars and was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital
where he later died. The suspects are described as two black males, 18 to 20
years old; 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing about 120 to
130 pounds.
