Incident at 8700 Gustine Lane #2601

February 10, 2005 -- A suspect has been charged in the fatal shooting of a man at 8700 Gustine Lane #2601 on Wednesday, February 9, 2005, about 11:20 p.m.

Christopher Lawayne Cotton, (b/m DOB: 01-05-85) has been charged with murder in the 338th State District Court.

HPD Homicide Division Officer D. L. Robertson and Sergeant T. C. Bloyd reported:

The victim, Carson O'Neal Jones Jr., 20, of 8700 Gustine Lane #2601 and Cotton became involved in an argument inside Jones' apartment. Cotton shot Jones multiple times in the head and body. Christopher Michael Taylor, who was also inside the apartment, received a grazing gunshot wound to the leg.

Taylor was transported to Southwest Memorial Hermann Hospital and treated for the gunshot wound to his leg. Jones was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he later died.
