Incident at 5100 Ireland

February 15, 2005 -- Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man in the 5100 block of Ireland about 7:30 p.m. on Monday (Feb. 14).

The victim, Herrera Ramirez Porfirio, 29, of 5217 Ireland suffered several gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at Ben Taub General Hospital.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C.B. Douglas and Officer D.R. Shorten reported:

Herrera and a witness were walking in the 5100 block of Ireland when they were approached by two unknown black males, one on a bicycle and the other on foot.
According to the witness, the male on the bicycle blocked them in, and the shooter stood behind them. The witness stated he then ran from the scene. At that time, Herrera was shot several times.
