Incident at 8800 Broadway

July 13, 2005 -- Houston police are awaiting results of an autopsy in the death of a baby girl at 8800 Broadway about 3:10 p.m. on Tuesday (July 12).

Talena Alahjze Sims, two months old, was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C.J. Grysen and Officer T. Huynh reported:

The baby's mother had changed, fed and bathed the little girl on Tuesday morning and placed her in a bassinet for a nap before leaving for work. The baby was in the care of her aunt, who thought the child was sleeping during the day. When the child was checked in the afternoon, she was found unresponsive. Persons at the scene initiated CPR, but paramedics arrived and pronounced the girl dead.
