July 26, 2005 -- Charges have been upgraded against a suspect who fatally shot a child at 11715 South Glen about 8:45 p.m. last Saturday (July 23).

The suspect, Amin Shehzad Hussein (w/m, DOB 8-31-60), was initially charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and injury to a child in the 339th State District Court. The wounded two-year-old girl, identified as Ny'Oshea Harris, was shot in the neck and later died from her injuries. Following her death at an area hospital, the injury to a child charge against Hussein was upgraded to capital murder.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant L. Baimbridge and Officer N. Ruland reported:

Several juveniles were playing football in the courtyard of the apartment complex. During the game, a football accidentally broke Hussein's window. He came outside and confronted the group of juveniles. Hussein pulled a pistol from his pocket and raised it towards two of the juveniles. The juveniles ran away from Hussein and he fired one shot, striking Ny'Oshea, who was being held by a third juvenile.
