Traffic Incident at 700 Elgin

June 14, 2005 -- Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 700 block of Elgin about 3:45 p.m. on Sunday (June 12).

The deceased victim is identified as George McClellan, 54. He was pronounced dead at Ben Taub General Hospital.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant N. Nguyen and Officer R. Kessler reported:

The victim was driving a blue Hyundai eastbound on Elgin at Smith. For reasons unknown, the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a light pole. Houston Fire Department personnel had to use the Jaws of Life to reach the victim trapped in the vehicle.
