Incident at 720 North Sam Houston Parkway

March 10, 2005 -- The fatal shooting of a man at 720 North Sam Houston Parkway East about 2:20 a.m. today (March 10) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.

The deceased male has been identified as Roosevelt Turner Jr., 22, of 2210 Pannell Street. He suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Officers R. Moreno and B. Harris reported:

Turner, along with two unidentified black males, went to a local motel to rob Antwon Wyatt. The three men abducted an unidentified victim who was driving Wyatt's vehicle. An additional victim was abducted as she was leaving the motel and ordered to knock on Wyatt's motel room door. After the door was opened, a gunfight ensued and numerous shots were fired. One of the gunshots struck Turner. Wyatt, 24, received a gunshot wound to the stomach and was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital with a non-life threatening injury.
