Update on Incident at 1100 Hwy 6 South

May 17, 2005 -- Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 1100 Hwy 6 South about 7 p.m. on Saturday (May 14).

The deceased victim has been identified as Joel Lawton Hale, 44, of 3233 Windchase #1404. The Harris County Medical Examiner's office has determined his death as a suicide from a single gunshot wound to the head.

HPD Homicide Division Officer I.F. Flores reported:

The victim was located on the south side of an embankment. A pistol was found next to the victim's body.
