Traffic Incident at 1600 Pierce

November 5, 2005 -- Houston police are investigating the fatal traffic accident at 1600 Pierce about 3:20 a.m. today (Nov. 5).

The male victim's identity is pending notification to next of kin.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant D. S. Runyan and Officer M. E. Wick reported:

According to witnesses, the male was traveling eastbound on Pierce at a high rate of speed. The male lost control of his vehicle when he swerved to avoid hitting another car causing him to strike a light pole on the southeast corner of the street. The male was pronounced dead at the scene. The male was the only occupant in the vehicle.
