Traffic Incident at 13500 Northwest Freeway

November 29, 2005 -- Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 13500 block of the Northwest Freeway (Highway 290) service road about 5:45 p.m. on Monday (Nov. 28).

The deceased victim, a pedestrian, is identified as Jose Romero, 48.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant N.Q. Nguyen and Officers R. Breiding and J. Tippy reported:

A black Mitsubishi Montero was traveling east on the Northwest Freeway service road. The pedestrian was crossing the service road in an area that did not have a crosswalk. The driver of the Montero struck the pedestrian and remained at the scene where officers questioned her. The female driver, Theresa Drozco, 49, was released and is not charged at this time as the investigation continues.
