Suspect Arrested in Sexual Assault of Elderly Woman
September 9, 2005 -- Houston
police have arrested a suspect in the sexual assault and brutal
beating of his elderly neighbor on August 30.
The suspect is identified as Dale
Bryan Marsh (w/m, DOB 1-7-58). He is charged with aggravated
sexual assault (elderly) in the 208th State District Court.
HPD Sex Crimes Unit Sergeant B. Roberts and Officer
P. Moreno reported:
The victim, an 80-year-old woman, was sexually
assaulted and severely beaten inside her residence on Burress
Street about 4 a.m. on August 30. During the investigation at
the residence, HPD Officer L.R. Verbitskey of the Crime Scene
Unit processed the scene and was able to obtain a fingerprint
that was submitted to the HPD latent print lab. Within a few days,
the print was identified as being that of Dale Marsh, a convicted
sex offender and the victim's next door neighbor.
Investigators, with assistance from officers
from the North Patrol Division, set up surveillance on Marsh's
residence and arrested him about 12:05 a.m. today (Sept. 8) as
he returned home. During the serving of the warrant, Marsh attempted
to slam the door shut on officers. After he was taken into custody,
Marsh refused to cooperate with investigators as they attempted
to question him and obtain a statement.
Anyone else who might have been victimized by
Dale Bryan Marsh is urged to contact the HPD Sex Crimes Unit at
713-308-1180.
