Incident at 4700 South Kirkwood

April 4, 2006 -- Houston police are investigating the shooting of a man at 4700 South Kirkwood about 7:10 p.m. on Monday (Apr. 3).

The victim is identified as Ivan Alejandro Carrera, 26, of the above address. He suffered gunshot wounds to the head and is listed in critical condition at Ben Taub General Hospital.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Newcomb and Officer T. Huynh reported:

Mr. Carrera was driving through the apartment complex and was apparently approached by an unknown suspect and shot in the head for unknown reasons.

There are no known witnesses at this time, however investigators believe potential witnesses were in the parking lot of the apartment complex at the time of the shooting.
