Traffic Incident at 11500 Southwest Freeway

April 14, 2006 -- Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 11500 block of the Southwest Freeway on the high occupancy vehicle lane about 6:45 a.m. today (Apr. 14).

The deceased victim is identified as Annette Kramer Zwahr, 83, of Needville, Texas.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant L.A. Washington and Officer A.N. Taylor reported:

The driver of a green Honda Accord was traveling northbound on the high occupancy vehicle lane in heavy fog and lost control of the vehicle, which struck the concrete barrier. The impact killed the front seat passenger, Ms. Zwahr, and injured the driver. The driver was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital to be treated for cuts and abrasions.

The investigation is continuing.
