Incident at 4206 Galway

April 24, 2006 -- Houston police are investigating the apparent accidental death of a two-year-old boy at 4206 Galway about noon on Sunday (April 23).

The child has been identified as Wilmer Humberto Martinez. The boy suffered a head injury and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant A. Carrillo and Officer H. A. Chavez reported:

Wilmer was in the backyard of his residence when he grabbed the handle of a cast iron barbecue pit to pick himself up. The pit, which was not secured to the ground, fell on top of the boy. Paramedics pronounced the boy dead at the scene.
