Update on Incident at 4700 South Kirkwood

April 30, 2006 -- Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 4700 South Kirkwood about 7:10 p.m. on April 3, 2006.

The suspect, David King Jr. (b/m, DOB 12/17/85), is charged with murder in the 180th State District Court.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Newcomb and Officer T. Huynh reported:

The victim, Ivan Alejandro Carrera, was driving through the apartment complex and was approached by King and shot in the head. King, who is a Hurricane Kartrina evacuee, told investigators that he shot Carrera because he gave him an ugly look in the parking lot of the apartment complex.
