Traffic Incident at 1900 Parker

August 25, 2006 -- Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident involving a pedestrian at 1900 Parker about 6:25 p.m. on Thursday (August 24).

The deceased pedestrian is identified as Linda Cousino, 64, of 1911 Parker.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant Gonzales and Officers D. Ertons, T. Nguyen and J. Mushinski reported:

The driver of a Chevy Impala traveling west on Parker Road at a high rate of speed struck Ms. Cousino as she attempted to cross the street. Due to the excessive speed and faulty actions, the driver lost control of his vehicle and struck Ms. Cousino, who died at the scene.

The driver of the Impala was taken to an area hospital where mandatory toxicology tests were performed. Upon completion of this investigation, the case will be presented to the Harris County District Attorney's office for possible charges.

The investigation is continuing.
