Incident at 8607 Southwest Freeway Service Road

January 9, 2006 -- Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 8607 Southwest Freeway about 3:40 a.m. today (Jan. 9).

The victim is identified as Mark Broussard, 23, of 3800 Westpark. He suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. McStravick and Officer I.F. Flores Jr. reported:

Patrol officers on a traffic stop heard multiple gunshots near a restaurant at 8607 Southwest Freeway. Officers found the victim lying on the sidewalk outside the restaurant. Several witnesses were located and told investigators that Mr. Broussard and his friends were at the Blue Houston Nightclub at 8412 South Gessner earlier in the evening. The restaurant, an IHOP, is located in a strip center near the nightclub. Broussard waited at the club with one of his friends who had lost his keys there. While Broussard was using a cell phone, two unknown black male suspects approached him and shot him multiple times.

Investigators have not determined a motive for the shooting at this time.

Both suspects were armed with black automatic pistols. One suspect is described as being about 24 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing 200 pounds and has a faded haircut. He was wearing a light brown winter jacket, white shirt and blue jeans. The other suspect was about 22 to 23 years old, about 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighed 170 to 180 pounds. He was wearing a black baseball cap, red polo shirt and black pants.
