Incident at 10555 Spice Lane

July 10, 2006 -- Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 10555 Spice Lane about 9 p.m. on Sunday (July 9).

The victim has been identified as John Lewis Smith, 20, of 8404 South Course Drive. He suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the body.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant S. Kennedy and Officer I. F. Flores Jr. reported:

The victim was near the apartment complex mailboxes when he was confronted by three suspects and shot multiple times. A witness observed the suspects, described only as three black males, between the ages of 17 and 20, wearing all black clothing, running from the location. The motive for the shooting is unknown.
