adults, two females and one male, that occurred at 12000 Almeda Road at 2:15
a.m. on July 16, 2006.

Accident investigation Officer R. Davidson reports:

On July 16, 2006, at approximately 2:15 a.m., a vehicle being operated by Deaundrey Laval Wooten (b/m 10-11-72) was southbound on Almeda Road in excess of the speed limit when he struck three pedestrians who were crossing the street. Wooten's vehicle then swerved to the left and struck another pedestrian and a parked vehicle before coming to rest on railroad tracks and burning. Of the first three pedestrians, two sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. The third pedestrian sustained critical injuries and was transported to Ben Taub Hospital by HFD. The pedestrian that was struck near the parked car also sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. In all, two adult females and one adult male died at the scene. Identification and cause of death for the deceased is pending release by the Harris County Medical Examiner.

Deaundrey Wooten fled the scene on foot and went to a nearby friend's home. From that location, Wooten summoned an ambulance to treat injuries he sustained in this incident. During transport to the hospital, Wooten admitted to having been involved in the incident. Wooten was taken into custody at the hospital.

The Harris County District Attorney's office has accepted three charges of Intoxication Manslaughter and one charge of Driving With a Suspended License against Wooten.

This accident will remain under investigation by the Mobility Incident Management Division.
