Traffic Incident at 5908 Eastex Service Road

July 20, 2006 -- Houston police are investigating a fatal accident that left one person dead on the Eastex Freeway service road at Kelley Street on Wednesday, July 19, 2006 at about 4:42 p.m.

According to Houston Police Department Mobility Incident Management Division Officer James Tippy, the driver of a gold Toyota, 59 year-old Jose M. Monduy, was westbound in the 3800 block of Kelley Street and ran the red light. Witnesses said he struck a blue Chevrolet Trail Blazer, driven by 38-year-old Ruben C. Pena, that was traveling northbound on the Eastex service road.

Jose Monduy, who had to be extracted from his car, died in the accident.
