Traffic Incident at 2200 Katy Freeway

March 11, 2006 -- Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 2200 Katy Freeway at 7:50 p.m. on Friday (March 10).

The identity of the deceased female victim is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner's office.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant J.A. Ogden and Officer R. Stafford reported:

A driver of a green Ford Explorer traveling eastbound on the Katy Freeway attempted to exit the freeway at Studemont and lost control of his vehicle. The Explorer rolled over and struck a metal guardrail, killing the front seat passenger. The driver and two other passengers were transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital in unknown conditions. The case will be referred to the Harris County District Attorney's office for possible charges. No other vehicles were involved in the accident.

The investigation is continuing.
