Update on Incident at 900 North York

March 26, 2006 -- Two suspects have been arrested and charged for the fatal shooting of a man found in a bayou at 900 N. York on Sunday, March 19, 2006 at about 1:40 p.m.

The victim, Raul Mendoza, 23, was retrieved from the bayou with multiple gunshot wounds to the head.

The suspects were both arrested and charged with capital murder in the 184th State District Court. They are known as:

Jose Luis Nieva (H/m, DOB: 07-25-79) a.k.a. "Polo"
Joseph Noel Godin (H/m, DOB: 02-07-79) a.k.a. "Bird"

According to Houston Police Department Homicide Division Sergeant H.R. Hernandez and Officer D.S. Vasquez, HPD patrol officers were dispatched to 900 North York to meet with members of an Equisearch team who discovered the body of a male. The team was in the area conducting a search for a missing person when they located the body floating in the bayou.

The HPD Dive team made the scene and recovered the body of Mr. Mendoza.

Investigation into Fatal Crash at 16001 Cotillion Drive

March 22, 2022 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 16001 Cotillion Drive about 3 p.m. on Monday (March 21).  

The identity of the female victim, 20, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant P. Lee and Officer A. Mares reported:  

A black Honda Accord was traveling eastbound on Aldine Bender Road and made a left turn at the intersection of Cotillion Drive.  A black Hyundai Elantra was traveling westbound on Aldine Bender and struck the Honda.  The Honda spun and struck a gray Mercury Mariner traveling eastbound on Aldine Bender.  The driver and passenger in the Honda were transported to an area hospital where the passenger, the driver's daughter, was pronounced deceased.  The drivers of the Mercury and the Hyundai were not injured.  

At this time, it has not been determined who was at-fault in the crash.  

No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation is continuing.
