May 28, 2006 -- Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a juvenile at 4200 South Shaver about 1:05 a.m. today (May 28).

The victim has been identified as Marco Antonio Gomez, 9, of 4300 South Shaver #1.

HPD Homicide Division Officers R. Cervantes and D. Vasquez reported:

The victim, who was sitting in the front passenger seat of a vehicle, was driving home with a relative. As they approached the 4200 block of South Shaver, the relative heard several gunshots and then observed the victim slump over in the seat. Upon checking the victim, the relative saw blood coming from him. The victim was immediately taken to a local hospital, where he later died from a gunshot wound to the head. The motive for the shooting is unknown and there is no suspect information at this time.
