Traffic Incident at 15100 JFK Boulevard

November 18, 2006 -- Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident involving a pedestrian at 15100 JFK Boulevard about 6 p.m. on Friday (Nov. 17).

The victim is identified as Anita Lois Mitchell, 73, of Deming, Washington.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant R. Gonzales and Officer D. Ertons reported:

A 2006 white Honda Accord traveling southbound on JFK Boulevard struck a pedestrian as she attempted to cross the roadway. Other vehicles, in the right-hand lane of JFK, stopped to allow Ms. Mitchell to cross, however, the Honda, traveling in the left lane, did not see Mitchell until it was too late. The impact caused the death of Ms. Mitchell.

The investigation is continuing.
