Incident at 10731 Bellfair

October 16, 2006 -- Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of his mother at 10731 Bellfair about 10 p.m. on Sunday (Oct. 15).

Efrain Frias (H/m, DOB 7-22-86) is charged with murder in the 174th State District Court. He is accused in the killing of Angelica Frias, 47, of 10731 Bellfair. She suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant R. Olivo and Officer J. Padilla reported:

Family members discovered Ms. Frias in a rear bedroom of her home. It appeared she had been shot several times with an assault rifle, possibly owned by one of her sons. At the time, relatives said they saw one of Frias' sons (Efrain) wandering in the street near the home.

Efrain Frias made statements to family members admitting to shooting his mother. Police officers arrested Frias at his uncle's home in west Houston.
