Incident at 815 East 23rd Street

October 21, 2006 -- Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 815 East 23rd Street about 2 a.m. today (October 21).

The victim, a Hispanic male, suffered a gunshot wound to the back of the neck and died at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner's office.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Scott and Officer C. Scales reported:

HPD Officers responded to a shooting call at 815 East 23rd Street and found the victim lying dead on the ground after being shot. Witnesses said the victim was standing in the front yard of this residence talking to two people when one of them shot him. Witnesses reported hearing a gunshot and seeing the two people run away.

There is no known motive at this time.
