Update on Incident at 7520 Cook Road

October 28, 2006 --Houston police homicide investigators have arrested one suspect and are seeking identities on others in the fatal shooting of a man at 7520 Cook Road about 2 p.m. on October 20.

Capital murder charges have been filed against one suspect, Carol Winston Lee (b/m, DOB 2-19-88). Lee, arrested on Friday (Oct. 28), is charged in the 230th State District Court. He is charged for his role in the robbery and killing of Gustavo L. Garcia, 32.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant B.C. McDaniel and Officer E.M. Follis reported:

Witnesses reported hearing a single gunshot at 7520 Cook Road and then seeing a man lying in a breezeway of the apartment complex. Witnesses and HFD personnel attempted CPR on the victim, but were unsuccessful as the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Witnesses reported seeing a rust or brown full-sized, older model van leaving the location immediately after the shooting.

During the investigation, Lee was identified as a suspect in the incident. Investigators say more arrests are possible.
